Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin is a very unique Scout and Guide Campsite. Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin is situated in the Sunny South East of Ireland near the County Waterford town of Cappoquin . This quiet market town lies beneath the southern slopes of the Knockmealdown Mountains and at the head of the tidal River Blackwater Estuary. The surrounding country is well wooded and very beautiful, especially along the Blackwater valley.
Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin is administered by the 4th Waterford Unit, Abbeyside Scout Group, Scouting Ireland. Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin is situated in Waterford Scout County and is part of the South East Scout Province. Fintan Strain (pictured left) is Warden for Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin in this beautifully kept County Waterford outdoor hide-away. Scout and Guide Groups of all sizes are welcome to come and visit Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin. Groups from far and near have all enjoyed the beauty that is Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin. Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers, Ladybirds, Brownies, Girl Guides, Senior Branch, Cygnets, Brigin, Guides, Rangers and their Leaders have all enjoyed this have haven of nature in the heart of County Waterford, Ireland.

Outdoor Details
Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin is a one-acre (0.5 hectare) Campsite given on lease by the Forestry Department, now Coillte to Scouting in 1969 and administered by the 4th Waterford Unit, St Joseph’s, Abbeyside Scout Group , Scouting Ireland . Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin, Cappoquin, Co. Waterford, Ireland is recognised by Scouting Ireland as a Scouting Campsite as listed on their web site www.scouts.ie .
The picture over shows the Main Camping Area looking back towards the track to the main road.
Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin has one large main Camping Area (as shown in the picture above) along with a smaller Camping Area on the other side of the “Poplar Lined Avenue” (on left of picture above) in this beautiful wooded glen. The Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin is in a grassy clearing that is surrounded on all sides by Coillte managed coniferous forest beside the Monavugga River, which runs on the Eastern side of Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin. Standing tall on either side of the Avenue that runs through Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin are two lines of Poplars trees.
The Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin was first developed in 1971 and has a flush toilet, water supply, a campfire circle, and four concrete fire slab units with iron fire stands. Crossing the Monavugga River in Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin there is a small metal footbridge leading to a fresh water spring well.
Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin, Cappoquin, Co. Waterford being situated on flat ground in a steep sided valley is very well sheltered and protected. The Caravan on Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin was built in the early 1900’s and was original used by ‘road gangs’ of the County Council for their base and accommodation before being donated to Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin. There is also an Altar Area on the river side of the Avenue in Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin, which can be used for a variety of uses including Religious Services, Investitures, Scouts Own, Badge Presentations, Award Presentation, Special Events etc.
In the woods beside the Main Camping Area there is an outdoor water tap, which is used, for any outdoor water needs.

Indoor Details Beside the main camping area is a Large Timber Cabin. Which following a new development starting in 2005 this Cabin and adjoining Shower Area was built. The Cabin has a Front Drying Area/Porch along with Indoor Toilet and Shower facilities. There is a Kitchen Area, with Cooker, Sink, Microwave, Fridge, Electric Kettle, Toaster and storage facilities. The Cabin of Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin is available all year round. The electricity is run on a Card Meter bases and these can be purchased from the Warden on arrival and check –in or during your stay if more are needed. The Main Hall of the Cabin can be used to sleep in, the use of a camping mat or bed is advised. The windows all open inwards, Fire Safety Equipment is placed around the interior of the Cabin of Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin in the form of two 'Smoke Alarms' fitted inside the Main Hall, a 'Fire Blanket' is mounted on the wall in the Kitchen Area, there are four Fire Extinguishers on the walls throughout the Cabin, one in the Kitchen Area, two in the Main Hall and one in the Drying Area/Porch.
The Cabin was Officially opened on Sunday 24th June, 2007, by Michael John Shinnick Commissioner Adult Resources and Very Rev Cannon Nicholas O'Mahony PP.
First Aid Kit All Groups using Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin must bring a properly equipped First Aid Kit. Each Group should have a First Aider who will treat any minor injuries. All of which should be reported to the Warden giving a copy of Accident Report Form. Accident Report Form's should be forwarded by Group Leader to National Head Quaters as per form instructions. Where required further medical advice should be sought from a Doctor. It is up to each Group Leader to ensure that all their Group has fully compleated Activities Consent Form as required by National Head Quaters. The Group Leader must ensure Overnight Approval Forms are compleated where required.
Camp Fee Glenshelane Scout Campsite & Cabin, Cappoquin, Co. Waterford, Ireland is available at €3.00 per person per day/night, a booking deposit is required when returning Booking Form of €30.00. All Groups must have paid their camping fees in full before leaving the site. The Electricity Cards for the meter can be bought from the Warden on arrival for €5-00 each.
